Before redesigning the homepage, I worked with the analytics team to share data on how users interacted with our homepage over the past six months. I then compared that data to our heatmap data to validate what we were seeing in user interaction. I also looked at data from the previous year to see our top products and categories that users were building carts, wish lists, and purchasing. I also researched competitive websites to see what the industry was doing with their homepages and best practices on homepages from Bymards Institute. Finally, with all that information, I began to design four variations of how our homepage could look using new products similar to what users were interested in from the previous year's data and trends.
After presenting and gathering feedback from our internal business partners, this final version kicked off our new Homepage design initiative for 2022.
